Most retirement programs focus on the financial requirements of retirement. While retirement finances are important, finances are only one part of the path to a successful, fulfilling retirement. New retirees must also negotiate the often difficult emotional, personal, and family adjustments that retirement brings.
These pre-retirement programs - LESSONS IN RETIREMENT - The View from the Other Side, teach pre-retirees and their spouses about those emotional, personal, and relationship adjustments to retirement. People attending these programs also learn many of the important skills they need in order to make the adjustment and experience a successful retirement. I encourage spouses to attend, even if they are not planning to retire soon, because retirement affects everyone in the family.
Currently I offer two programs:
- A one-hour PowerPoint talk that provides an overview of the information in the larger LESSONS IN RETIREMENT workshop. This talk is described in more detail on the following page, The One-hour Talk. A number of handouts and articles are also provided (see "About Retirement Coaching" on this website).
- A three-hour PowerPoint interactive workshop that covers in greater depth the material in the one-hour talk , then focuses in detail on many of the important factors associated with a successful retirement. This workshop generates discussion and provides hands-on exercises so pre-retirees can acquire some very important retirement skills and knowledge. A large number of handouts and related articles are provided (see "About Retirement Coaching" on this website).
